“Match of the Day” at Arise!
As part of their ongoing support to fundraise for the children at Arise School, the pupils of Cronton C. of E. School donated to Arise their own sports kits that they had grown out of or no longer had a use for. This coincided with the Tanzanian Government designating Friday afternoon as a dedicated time for all primary schools in the country to undertake sporting activities.
During our time at the school in November, it was great to see the Arise pupils jog out onto the area they use as a football pitch proudly sporting their kits. The score was one nil but, unfortunately, we missed the goal!
What was so special though was to see the smiles on the faces of the Cronton children when we went back into school before Christmas to show them the video that we had taken. Not only did Ron lead them in a rendition of the iconic “Match of the Day” theme but they were also able to recognise their own sports kits!
We also showed them a short video of the Arise pupils singing a “Gonna build a School” based on a song they, the Cronton children, had sung at their Harvest service. The song “Gonna Build a House” followed on from their Harvest Collection to raise money for our ACE “Buy a Block” appeal. Like last week’s blog, what another brilliant example of “children communicating across cultures”!
Gonna build a school
Gonna build a school Gonna build a school
That is for us all That is for us all
Gonna build a roof Gonna build a roof
It will be so tall It will be so tall
With lots of doors you can open wide
And lots of windows you can peep inside
Gonna build a school Gonna build a school
Gonna build a school Gonna build a school
Thank you for the blocks Thank you for the blocks
That will build our school That will build our school
Thank you for the blocks Thank you for the blocks
That will build our school That will build our school
With lots of doors you can open wide
And lots of windows you can peep inside
Thank you for the blocks Thank you for the blocks
Thank you for the blocks Thank you for the blocks
