The Latest Additions to the Arise “Family”
1st April 2016
One of the things that has impressed us since the early days of Arise School is the fact that Frank and Salome always refer to the children and staff as the Arise “family”. This very much informs their approach and is reflected in the care and concern they show for the children both as individuals […]
A Full House!
25th March 2016
100% attendance at a glance! It may be a snapshot in time but, whilst at Arise School last Friday, Ron took this photo of the attendance board. It shows that every pupil on the school register was in school that day. There were no absences at all in any of the six classes. Quite an […]
Welcome Back Ron
18th March 2016
This week, Ron was very warmly welcomed back by the children and staff at Arise School. As always, as soon as they saw him, Ron was surrounded by the children. They invariably enjoy shaking hands with him, especially when he doesn’t let go! Ever since our very first trip to Tanzania in January 2008, we […]
The Dough Rises at Arise School
11th March 2016
Following the success of out first “Buy a Breakfast” Appeal in the run up to Christmas 2014, since January last year, Arise School has been providing a simple breakfast to every child every day of the school year. This has been a great success and the children are always at school, patiently queuing and waiting […]
“From Dream to Reality!” In less than three years………
5th March 2016
As Ron prepares for his next trip to Arise School on March 16th., we are looking back at a video of the school that we took when we were there last November. The impression we both left with was then how much had been achieved in less than three years. In January 2013, the school […]
The Breakfast Boogie Tanzanian Style!
27th February 2016
In one of our blogs last October, we wrote about how the children of Cronton C of E Primary School, very generously donated the collections from their Harvest Services to ACE. As part of the younger children’s Harvest Assembly, children, staff, parents and other visitors wholeheartedly joined in singing, dancing and clapping to one of […]
Bringing Everyone Together: Arise School Daily Assembly
19th February 2016
Many of the children at Arise School are there by 6.30 a.m. They know that breakfast is served at 7 o’ clock and there is no way that they want to miss it in spite of the long distances that some of them have to walk. Once breakfast has been served, at 7.50 a.m., a […]

Arise Community School Welcomes New Teaching Staff
12th February 2016
Arise School opened in January 2013 with one teacher. There are now seven members on the teaching staff – a Teaching Head, and six teachers, one of whom is Assistant to the Head. The staff are sometimes supported by students from local colleges on teaching placements and by volunteers, both local and visiting from […]
Arise Community School: Another Step Towards Community Integration Since it first opened its doors three years ago, the shared philosophy of Arise School and ACE has been to develop it as a community resource, available for use by the local village when the school is closed. Getting married is a very special occasion in all countries and we were delighted to learn last week that a young couple had approached the school to ask if they could have their wedding there. It was a great success as the photos testify. The school are now looking at the possibility of developing this as a means of bringing in income to help them on their journey towards becoming self-sustaining. The grounds are becoming well established with everything from beautiful bird of paradise plants to banana and papaya trees. The lush, green foliage provides both shade and a great background for photographs. A marquee is being costed out and, also, the possibility of the catering being done by the school (on this occasion, outside caterers were brought in). And, of course, if she lifts her head out of the clouds at the right time, Mt. Kilimanjaro makes the most beautiful, awe inspiring backdrop to a magical day! If this takes off, it will be a big step forward for the school in terms of community integration. We wish them well in progressing the initiative.
